16 Gramercy Park has remained a hub of the New York theatre community for 139 years. All proceeds from the evening benefit the two 501(c)(3) nonprofit groups that protect a National Historic Landmark and care for the remarkable collections inside.
The Players Preservation Fund is the 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation charged with restoring and preserving the historic building at 16 Gramercy Park South and its essential infrastructure. Renovated and added to by architect Stanford White in advance of The Players opening in 1888, the building earned National Historic Landmark status in 1962. Through our work, the Players Preservation Fund seeks to preserve this historic Gramercy townhouse for the education and enjoyment of future generations.
The Players Foundation fosters an understanding and appreciation of American theatre through education and preservation activities. Our unparalleled collection of theatre-related artwork, books, costumes, correspondence as well as items associated with 19th Century theatre legend Edwin Booth, is available to scholars and researchers. The Foundation is housed at The Players, a New York City social club, founded by Booth in 1888.
